Reston VA There
have been multiple attempts in the past 120 years to develop the land
known today as Reston. Robert E. Simon, Jr. is the father of modern
day Reston and the community is named from Mr. Simon's initials and
the English variation of town or Reston.
Robert E. Simon was clearly the visionary who brought together the
revolutionary design for the new town and sold the concept to local
government. His design vision has been borrowed and copied from
ever since across the region, country and world. Reston's master plan
is just about completed in 2006 and there can be no doubt that Mr.
Simon was the master planner.
Many of the villages and urban cores of Reston have been highly
recognized and awarded. The nearly completed Town Center is
both a tremendous financial success as well as a community focal point
and residential and commercial success. Town Center has become the hub
of Reston and beyond ... just as it was planned with some minor modification
roughly 40 years ago. Town Center is rapidly becoming some of the most
valuable real estate in Northern Virginia.
Reston has fulfilled the dreams of many as a place to call home and as
a economic success. The possibility of rail mass transit coming to the
town in the future grows more and more likely by the day.
